We provide nutritious, balanced meals to fuel children’s energy and development throughout the day. Our menus are thoughtfully planned to introduce a variety of healthy and tasty options.

Our Menu

At Hazelhurst we are passionate about providing children with an appealing, varied and balanced diet with an emphasis on nutrient-rich fruit and vegetables, healthy sources of protein, high fibre and whole grains to help your child to grow and to develop a healthy love of food.

All our meals are cooked from scratch by our experienced chef Daniel in our open-plan kitchen overlooking our dining area. Children eat their meals together with a small group of their peers in their base room or in our purpose built dining area. Their consistent group staff serve and supervise all meals.

All specified allergies and special dietary requirements are catered for and managed carefully by our chef Daniel, alongside your child’s group staff, and are overseen by the manager on duty. Where a child has a specific dietary requirement, they are provided with an appropriately adapted version of the same meal as their peers. We use the following standard ingredients: Kallo organic vegetable stock cubes, Vitalite dairy free spread & Tesco free-from vegetable gravy.

Breakfast is served by the children’s group staff and includes a selection of healthy cereals: cornflakes, Rice Krispies and Weetabix (or store brand alternatives) with fresh milk, and wholemeal toast with dairy free spread.

Children are provided with fresh milk appropriate to their age (whole milk for age 1, semi-skimmed milk from age 2), which is delivered to nursery from our local dairy.

Children are encouraged to drink water in their group throughout the day from their water bottles, with spares always available. They are also provided with water to drink at every meal time.
